Established in the year, 1931 owing to the pioneering effort of William Walters and his son Henry, Walter Art Gallery in Baltimore has over thirty thousand exhibits. A major share of the impressive art works showcased in the gallery was collected by the father-son duo from different parts of the world.
Located in Mount Vernon, Walters Art museum features displays that belong to pre-dynastic Egypt to that of the Europe in twentieth century along with Greek sculptures, Art Deco jewelry, ivory pieces belonging to medieval ages, the Chamber of wonders, seven Roman sarcophagi, Japanese armor, illuminated manuscripts and artifacts belonging to nineteenth century Europe among others.
