
Take a Walking Tour through Downtown Baltimore: Popular Sites of Interest
A walk through the Downtown Baltimore, a business district is sure to please the old and young alike. The place portrays a developing scenario of the last 100 years. The architecture resembles contemporary style and at the same time depicts traditional patterns.
After the havoc destruction caused by the Baltimore Fire of 1904, the district slowly revived and today has become a seat of architectural magnificence. The entire business district does not look the same. In fact, different regions illustrate construction style of different periods that have developed in the last century.
At mile 0 on the northeastern corner of the Pratt and Light streets, you will find a Harborplace that was inaugurated in the year 1980. The Harborplace helped a lot in redeveloping the district of Downtown Baltimore. The region itself was developed after the year 1970.
Walking down Pratt Street, towards east you will reach the market place at mile.35. Here you will spot a Port Discovery Children Museum and a power plant. At mile.70, you will observe some red brick structures on the Redwood Street, which are among the very few constructions to have survived the Baltimore Fire. Nevertheless, the remnants still reflects the glorious stature that this place once enjoyed.
The oldest church of the district, St. Paul's Church built in 1852 stands on the Saratoga Street at mile 1.2. Finally, the journey will end when you arrive at the Harborplace again at mile 1.7.
