Port Discovery Hours Information

Planning a family vacation of Baltimore? Baltimore is a great destination. This city is filled with many exciting family attractions. Port Discovery is just one of them. The Port Discovery is the fourth largest museum in the United States, occupying over 80,000 square feet. As a fun-filled children's museum, it provides three floors of interactive exhibitions and programs for kids aged 2 to 10.

When planning on visiting Port Discovery, you need to plan ahead for a trouble-free and more enjoyable trip. The prime thing is your time arrangement. To best experience the exhibits and programs, we suggest that you prepare to spend 2 to 3 hours for your visit. There is also a museum map to help you arrange your trip better.

Is the Port Discovery open all year round? Yes. The Port Discovery Museum is commonly open all year round except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Monday through Thursday of September as well as Mondays from May to October. But if the Mondays happen to be the holidays (including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Monday before and after Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Monday after Christmas), the museum is also open.

Although the Port Discovery is usually open all year round, the specific hours of operations are a bit different. During September, the museum is open from 9:30am to 4:30pm on Friday, from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and from noon to 5pm on Sunday.

From October to Memorial Day, the business hours of the museum are from 9:30am to 4:30pm from Tuesday to Friday, from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and from noon to 5pm on Sunday. And Box Office will close a half hour earlier than closing time of the museum. Please note that if there is inclement weather on the day you plan to visit, you should contact the museum to confirm its operating status. The contact No. is 410-864-2700.

During Memorial Day through Labor Day, the museum is open from 10am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday and from noon to 5pm on Sunday. The Box Office closes a half hour before the museum closing time.

Gift Shop Hours: There is a gift shop at the Port Discovery, offering a wide selection of unique, educational toys and books. Its business hours are different from those of the museum. During Memorial Day through Labor Day, the shop is open from 11am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday and from noon to 5pm on Sunday.

During September, the operating hours are from 11am to 4:30pm on Friday, from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and from 12noon to 5pm on Sunday.

From October to May, the gift shop is open from 11am to 4:30pm from Tuesday to Friday, from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and from 12noon to 5pm on Sunday.
