Great Blacks in Wax Museum depicts the history of the struggle of African Americans through the ages. The museum has exhibits relating to the pioneers of the freedom movement of the Afro-Americans in America. It is a unique museum preserving the cultural heritage of the African Americans through their exhibits and wax figures.It was established in the year 1983 and is the first museum to trace the history of African Americans.

The museum features more than 100 wax statues and scenes, a replica of the ship which stood as the witness to slavery trade of 400 years, a room dedicated to Maryland residents who played key role in the free struggle and a section which delineates the role of the youngsters in the same movement. There is also an auditorium where movies and lectures are held.
The exhibition in different sections includes The Slavery Era, A Journey to Freedom, The Colonial Period, Magnificence of Africa, Rebellion, The Christian Tradition, The Underground Railroad, Blacks in the Military, Entrepreneurship, Folk Hero, And a Little Child Shall Lead Them, Harlem Renaissance, Jim Crow Era, Scientists, Inventors, Health Professionals, The Western Frontier, The Space Frontier, Modern Civil Rights Era, Abolition & Women's Rights and many more.

The museum operates between 9am and 6pm throughout the week and 12 and 6pm on Sundays during the spring season. During summer, it operates from 9 to 6 throughout the week and 12 to 6 on Sundays. During winters it operates from 9 to 5throughout the week and 12 to 5 on Sunday. The admission fee for adults is $12, for seniors it is $11, for children it is $10 and for college students it is $11. For groups, the fee is $9.
