Baltimore Streetcar Museum is a nonprofit museum that is dedicated to preserving the rich history of the city's transportation system. This museum mainly concentrates on the streetcar era. It is open all the year round from noon to 5pm. This museum also houses the collections of National Railway Historical Authority. The museum is located in the 1901 Falls Road.
The museum authority offers rides to the interested visitors on several vintage streetcars. Some of their collection includes United Railway and Electric Company's Car 264, Car 4533, Car 6119 etc. Special streetcars can be booked for special occasions. President's conference committee streetcar is one of them. This prestigious car was added to their collection on September 2009.
The museum also has the option of membership. Members are eligible to get many exciting offers. For interested museum members the authority conducts Streetcar Conductors course. There are two courses on offer; the first one is a 13-week course on basic streetcar operations. The second course is the operation and certification of streetcars with airbrakes. The museum also provides audiovisual tours for the visitors.
The museum can also be rented for the purpose of private parties for children and adults. The museum provides for lovely facilities like auditorium, Trolley Theater, Streetcar rides etc. Visitors may also visit the Car House, where they can see and experience other exciting exhibits. Some of the historical exhibits are 1859 horse car, crane car, trolley bus, vintage transit pieces and electric bus and exciting gift shops.
