Fort McHenry

Fort McHenry is the greatest star shaped fort and is noted for its historic role in the War 1812. It played a significant role in defending the city of Baltimore from the attack of the British Navy. A dry moat and a deep trench surround the fort. The moat was built to serve as a shelter for the soldiers against their enemies.

It was the first port of primary defense at Baltimore at that time though now a new port has been build for its defense. Another important feature of this fort is that it ha also served as a prison for military and political officials. Later on it was used as a hospital and rooms had been added to it accordingly.

This sure is considered a National monument and has been turned into the National park. Travel to Baltimore and look at the historic wonder that has served many purposes.
