Many people pay a visit to this museum and are awestruck by the old fashioned press machines, which were used to make the newspaper in olden days. There are several educational programs as well for people of all age groups, from school children to senior citizens. There are few programs intended to increase the interest in the field of engineering among high school students. The Maryland engineering challenges guides and explains the various aspects of engineering and industries like design and construction, reports & demonstrations, presentations etc.
The main attractions of the BMI include the first traffic light in Baltimore, copper refinery of an old gas company, an 1820 model Acorn Printing press and a 19th century shipyard bell. Apart from the collectibles, the new MCCTES plan in the museum promises to provide certified programs to mold the young minds into thinking methodically and technically.

The regular business hours of the museum are from 10am to 4pm from Tuesday to Sunday. The place is a little off beat, but is a good alternative location to conduct family events and wedding ceremonies. The harbor and the beautiful serene sea outlook at the patio of the museum make the place a good place for a nice evening get together.
