Beltway

The development of the road infrastructure in Baltimore started time back. The government of the United States and the city and the city administration made it a point to make sure that they provide all the necessary amenities to the residents of Baltimore and road amentias are one of them. So much so that, interstate travel was made easier and the first chain of interstate highways were opened as early as the 1940's in Baltimore.

People in Baltimore, traveling by road will be astonished at how developed the road scene is here. In fact, a very important thing to mention here is about the 'Baltimore Beltway'. Essentially, the beltway is a part of the road infrastructure plan of the government which has been included in the system of highways. It is a basically a '6-lane' express bypass which offers trouble free movement to the residents of the city. In fact, with the inception of the beltway, road congestion has been eased to a large extent.

Travel in Baltimore - Maryland has been made quite hassle free with the inception of expressways and highways. People now have the ability to reach as fast they can to the destination of their choice in the city. They are no longer subject to long traffic jams and congested roads.

Further, a set of similar expressways as the beltway and other tunnel mechanisms were also planned by the government. These were constructed at about the same time in the 60's or the 70's with a view to ease the problem of traffic congestion on the city.

There are a lot of other, worth mentioning freeways similar to the 'Baltimore Beltway' which are worth mentioning like the 'Patapsco' Expressway which is a section of the beltway itself.
